She was born in Trenton Tennessee and was raised on a family farm along with her 12 siblings. After graduating from Union University in Jackson Tennessee, Mamon began her teaching career in Fox Oklahoma where she met her husband, Gene Shirley. They were married in 1956, moved to New Mexico, adopted 2 children, Stephanie and Brad, and settled in Littleton in 1970. Mamon taught a total of 40 years including her time at Highland Elementary Schoolin Centennial (1970-1994). After retiring, she lived in Colorado until she moved to Oklahoma in 2015 in order to be closer to her son's family. She and her family were long-time members of Arapahoe Road Baptist Church in Centennial where they established close friendships that remain to this day. A memorial service will be held Saturday November 20 at 10am at Arapahoe Road Baptist Church.

Mamon is survived by her son, Brad; his wife, Kim and her five grandchildren, one daughter-in-law and two great grandchildren as well as a host of living brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
