SAD BEREAVEMENT
We are indebted to Mr. J.H. Leonard, who writes from Two Creeks, under date of March 23, for the following item:
"As an item of news from this town I send you the following concerning the bereavement of Mr. Joseph Bartosch(sic), proprietor of the tavern at this place:
On the 10th of the present month Mr. B. had a family of six children, all, apparently, in good health. That evening one of them was taken sick and the next day it died; then, one after another, they were stricken down, and on Sunday, the 20th inst., the last of the six was a corpse. The disease was at first supposed to be scarlet fever, but there were a number of other symptoms which are not found in that disease. Many other children have also died."
