Jim was born on September 12, 1945, the son of Ira and Elaine (Arpan) Nehrlich in Evanston, IL. He graduated from Dor-Abby High School in 1963. Jim served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1966-69, serving 21 months in Viet Nam. On August 30, 1969, he was united in marriage to Mary Spence at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Jim worked for 40 years at Land O' Lakes in Spencer.
Jim was a member of St. Mary's, the Knights of Columbus, the Colby VFW Post #2227 and the Unity American Legion Post #358. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden, raising chickens and ducks. Jim liked to travel but loved being home. Most importantly, he loved and cherished his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Tracy and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hank and Julie Spence.
