Myrtis Francis (White) Polly McMillin was born November 3, 1913 near Alto, Texas. She was the eighth of ten children born to Wallace Barry White and Sara Francis (Moore) White. She departed this life Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the home of her daughter in Dixon, Missouri. She had attained the age of 90 years, 6 months and 8 days.

Myrtis graduated from Alto High School in Texas with honors, and was their star basketball player, winning the most games over that year.

Myrtis was united in marriage to William Wayne Polly of Richland, MO and to this union two daughters were born. Two years after they were married, they moved from Texas to Missouri to live on a farm north of Richland.

Myrtis accepted Christ at age 25 and was baptized in 1938 and became a member of the Glover Chapel Church of Christ.

Myrtis worked hard on their farm north of Richland for several years and later worked for the AAFES Division at Ft. Leonard Wood, where she attained the manager's position. She retired from AAFES in 1972.

Later she met and married Jessie A. McMillin of Warsaw, MO.

She loved to play cards with her family and friends and was pretty good at it too. She became a sports fiend, loving all sports, especially baseball. While living in Florida, where most of the major league's training camps are, she could often be found in the grandstand, and if there was a game on TV, she was watching it. She knew the players, pitchers, and batting averages of most players.

She was an active member of the VFW Post 7721 Ladies Auxiliary in Naples, FL, and held the office of chaplain there for several years. She was also a member of the VFW Post 4956 Ladies Auxiliary in Crocker after moving back to Missouri in 1996.

She was also a member of the Naples Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, where she tended to the needs of others as a "Pink Lady" for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter's father, Wayne Polly, her daughter, Nola Fay (Polly) Benton, four brothers, Jack, Roscoe, Lucius Barry, and Luther White, four sisters, Billie Beatrice Holcomb, Minnie Mae Pitts, Mary Alice Hughes, Jimmy James, three half sisters, and a niece, Charlotte Bothwell all of Texas.

Those left to mourn her passing include her daughter, Waylene (Polly) Reavis and son-in-law Jack Reavis of Dixon, MO; one grandson, John Wayne Jarrett and his wife Ann of Waynesville MP; two great grandchildren, Jessicca (Jarrett) Moore and her husband Marcus of Pasadena, CA and Clinton Joshua Jarrett of Waynesville MO; two step granddaughters, Sherry (Reavis) Wade of Virginia Beach, VA and Theresa (Reavis) Warrings of NC; two step great grandchildren, Jason Jolly and Reavie Wade; one sister, Imogean Bothwell of Wells, TX; four favorite nieces, Ruth Maupin, Catherine DeHaes of TX, Dorris Slaughter of SD, and Nell Monk of Dixon; three nephews, Jackie White, Butch Pitts, both of TX, Claude Hickey of Richland and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Richland Memorial Chapel with Ministers Jim Morris and Rick Pitchford officiating. Myrtis' great granddaughter, Jessicca Moore read a poem written by Myrtis' daughter, Nola Fay, and her grandson, John Jarrett shared special memories with the congregation. The Dixon Church of Christ Singers sang, "Does Jesus Care," "In The Garden, " "In The Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Lord, I'm Coming Home." "I Will Remember You" by Amy Grant was played during the showing of a DVD of family photographs.
