Mrs. Mary Jayne Devault Wheeler, 91, died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 15, 1872, in Lee County, Va., the daughter of Russell and Cynthia Ann Jayne Devault. At the age of 10 she came to Washington County with her mother and step-father, William A. Babb, who settled five miles south of Prairie Grove. In 1892 she was married to the late Henry Allison Wheeler who died in 1943. Mrs. Wheeler was a retired school teacher and a life-long member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. William H. Cowan and Mrs. Robert R. Logan of Fayetteville, Mrs. Robert J. Mannelmer of Portland, Ore. and Mrs. Neal B. Eastman of Tulsa; a half -sister, Mrs. Nannie Newton of Eureka, Calif.; three half-brothers, Charles Babb of Prairie Grove, Jack Babb of Pinedale, Calif. and Mack babb of Coos Bay, Ore.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
