He was preceded in death by his wife Marsha Abel, son, Michael Abel, parents Lawrence and Margaret Abel and sister Mary Anne.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Beard, stepson, Bob Wessel, three grandchildren, Tara, Matthew and Stacie, and brothers, Joseph Abel, Edward Abel and Michael Abel.
He was a Korean War veteran and was a charter boat captain for many years in the Florida Keys.
Cremation will follow.
