Death Takes William Oliver at Eighty-Two
William Henry Oliver, 82, of Sonora, died here Tuesday night following a protracted illness. He was a native of Ohio and came to Soulsbyville in 1896 where he worked for many years as a mill operator at the Soulsby mine. Later Oliver moved to Stockton where he was engaged as a painter. Afterward he returned to Tuolumne County, living in Twain Harte and working as a house painter, and then living in Sonora for the past two years. Oliver is survived by a sister, Mrs. Belle Elliott of Michigan, a step-son, Andrew "Chester" Hebrank Klieves, Stockton; and several nieces and nephews including among the latter Roscoe Oliver of Sonora. He had married his wife, the former Lila Stephens, in 1876. Last rites were held from the Terzich and Bigelow Funeral Home Thursday morning at 10 o'clock by members of the Christian Science Church of Sonora. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery.
