Hazel Elder Slate, 94, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Born April 4, 1927 in Prospect, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late John Fisher and Edna Elder.
Hazel was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed dearly. She was a long time member of Madison Church of Christ, but in recent years had been attending Hendersonville Church of Christ. In her younger years she loved bowling and took part in a bowling league in Madison. Hazel had retired after 50 years as a hair stylist. Her family will remember her as a good hearted, selfless woman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Morris W. Slate and several of her siblings.
She is survived by her sons Paul (Teresa) Slate and Steve (Gail) Slate; grandchildren Daniel (Susie) Slate, David Slate, Nathan Slate, and DeeAnna (Josh) Mosier; great grandchildren Samantha, Isabelle, Vera, Etta Mae, Bella, Roman, and Holly; brother Bobby (Doris) Elder; sisters Martha Ann Clifton and Elaine Willis.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will take place on Monday, September 13th at 12 PM noon with Brother David Swanger and Dr. C. Philip Slate officiating at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. The family will receive friends and visitors two hours prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
