June L. Andreason

June L. Andreason passed away at Steele Memorial Hospital in Salmon, Idaho the evening of April 14, 2004.

June was born in Bannack, Montana, the daughter of Edwy "Mac" Underwood and Sadie Thompson Underwood on June 24, 1918.

Upon the death of her father in 1923, the family moved to Dillon where June attended school and graduated from Beaverhead County High School.

June's love for animals found her working on the Poindexter and Orr Ranch in southwestern Montana, where she was a kitchen helper but gave her time to enjoy the horses and cattle that were raised on the ranch.

She married Stanley Andreason of Shelly, Idaho in Dillon, Montana, and they soon settled in the Tendoy area where they raised cattle, horses and hay, residing there for nearly 50 years.

She and Stan had one daughter who survives.

Stanley died of cancer in 1977 after retiring and building a new home.

June loved her home and even with old age was able to continue living there until a fall forced her into the hospital on March 30.

June will be rembered as a great fisherman, abl3e to catch a fish where no one else could, a lover of all animals... a good farmer... homemaker and always one for a word of advice no matter what the problem might be. June was very proud of her Bannack and Underwood heritage.

June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stan, brothers Merle, Bernard, Russell and sister Avis.

Survivors include daughter Carl, grandson Gabriel Culp, sister Lila Davis of Phoenix, sister-in-law May Underwood of Squim, Washington.

Local area nephews and their families are all of Dillon.

Many other nieces and nephews are around the country, along with special friends Bob and Amy Berasi and Doug and Lisa Trager.

A memorial service will be held at the Salmon River Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 24, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the local humane society or the Joshua D. Smith Foundation in Salmon, Idaho.
