Arlan James Gardner "Hyder" of Teton City, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2021 at the age of 88.

He was born on April 29, 1933 in Teton City to Elmer and Mabel Olsen Gardner. He joined four sisters and one brother and later another sister joined the family.
He was one of the first members of the Upper Snake River Bowman. He loved hunting with his bow, steelhead fishing, yard work, crafts and camping with his family.

He met Joanne Henderson in the summer of 1951 and they were married August 6, 1953. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They added eight children to their union.
He worked at the St. Anthony flour mill, the State of Idaho as a flagman and the Union Pacific Railroad where he retired in 1985.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years; children: Lyle (Connie) of Teton City; Dale (Connie) of Idaho Falls; Deanna (Roger) Garner of Rexburg; Peggy (Reed) Richman of Rexburg; Bruce (Jana) of Rigby; Kathy (Karl) Hanosky of Rexburg; and Kerry (Kim) of Salt Lake City, UT; son-in-law, Dave Pearson; sisters, Valora Dolezal of Cupertino, CA; and Joyce Miller of Riverdale, UT; 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Vera, Verla, and Marge; his brother, Lyle; his daughter, Sherry; and granddaughter, Bridget.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September, 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Teton LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and Tuesday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
