Walker Guess was stabbed to death by a Mr. Linear, a carpet bagger, after the civil war. He was first buried at a cemetery called Monticello, but two of his sons moved his body to the private cemetery of his brother-in-law, Lott Smith, NW of Brookhaven, MS. Any information of these evens would add appreciably to our family history. ( This info from "Guess-Guest History in Americo, 1981". SOURCE: Guess family forum on genealogy.com
