MARLBOROUGH -- Gilbert U. Bernier, 80, of Marlborough, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Marlborough Hospital.
He was the husband of Eleanor (Nicholos) Bernier.
Born in Derry, N.H., he was the son of the late Ulrich J. and Edna (Moquin) Bernier.
He was employed as a chef at the Cochituate Nursing Home many years ago. A longtime member of the former St. Mary's Parish, he was active in the music ministry. He enjoyed cooking, and his life was centered on his family and his love of music.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Larrie Bernier of Maynard, James Bernier of Bismarck, N.D., Wayne Bernier and his wife, Janice, of Shrewsbury, Matthew Bernier and his wife, Kathy, of Marlborough, Mark Bernier and his wife, Chris, of Hudson and Gilbert Bernier and his wife, Michelle, of Germany, N.Y.; his daughters, Roseann Young of Athol, Theresa Beaulieu and her husband, Robert, of Gardner, Janet Letendre of Dudley and Denise Brodeur and her husband, Paul, of Marlborough; his sister, Louise Comeau and her husband, Bill, of Spencer; 25 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 3, at 10 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street, Marlborough.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Beach Street, Marlborough.
Visiting hours will be held today, from 4 to 7 p.m., in the Slattery Funeral Home Inc. (Legacy.com), 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough.
