Barbara Jean (Seppala) Adams, aged 90 passed away peacefully in Kingston Massachusetts on Saturday, September 11th, 2021.

She was the beloved wife of the late John A. Adams, and a devoted mother of two daughters, grandmother to four and great grandmother to seven.

Barbara Jean was born in Quincy, Massachusetts on April 24th, 1931 to parents Hilja S. (Kantola) Seppala and Stanley J. Seppala. Barbara Jean grew up in Quincy and graduated from Thayer Academy. She continued her education and graduated from Lasell College in 1950. It was during this time that she met her husband John A. Adams. After graduating from Lasell, she worked as a legal secretary and then married on April 8th, 1953 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Quincy, Massachusetts.

As a child, Barbara Jean loved spending time with her parents at their family cottage in Kingston, Ma. She loved to swim and row her boat. She has been an animal lover her entire life and as an adult became a well known breeder of AKC Collie Dogs. She absolutely loved dogs, but also was a caretaker for cats, kittens, ducks and horses.

She and her husband and their two daughters called Hanover their home for many years. Barbara Jean and John were founding members of the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Hanover, Ma., where they were very active volunteering their time to help and serve others. Barbara Jean played many roles at the Church from typing/printing/folding the weekly Church Bulletin to caring for children in the nursery. She and her husband also volunteered their time at the Food Pantry weekly and much more.

Barbara Jean loved reading books and visiting the John Curtis Free Library on a weekly basis to find a new good read. She loved music and playing the piano for pure enjoyment, a talent she had mastered since her early childhood. Going to the Beach and listening to the Ocean was a favorite pastime. She and her husband traveled frequently to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to enjoy the fresh air and warm sunshine.

Barbara Jean was a kind, caring, generous person who lived a full beautiful life. She was always there for everyone in her family and a good Samaritan to others as well. She loved having the gang over for ALL of the holidays and summertime cookouts. "Grammie Jean" was a real trooper and always ready to babysit her grandchildren at the drop of a hat. Her devotion for her grandchildren was overwhelming and included fun sleepovers and adventurous camping trips to Peter's Pond down on the Cape.

She is survived by two loving daughters, Deborah L. (Adams) Burns and husband Gregory Burns , Cynthia J. (Adams) Luke and husband David Luke. A devoted grandmother of four survived by James Burns and wife Michelle Burns, Sean R. Burns, Melissa (Long) King and husband Joshua King, Meghan (Long) Jenkins and husband Darrius Jenkins.
