US Congressman. He was admitted to the bar in 1787 and engaged in the practice of law at Fort Harmer, Ohio. He was appointed United States counsel for Washington County in 1788, elected probate judge in 1797 and was a member of the Territorial legislature, 1799 to 1801. In 1801, he was elected as a Federalist Delegate to the Seventh Congress, serving until 1803. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law and was appointed associate judge of the court of common pleas, serving 1810 to 1816.

Gravesite Details

The front panel of Paul's memorial, which reveals those inscriptions, had fallen and the pieces placed atop the vault of Noah Fearing (his father).
