HARTFORD CITY- Marjorie Jean Slater passed away on Tusesday, September 14, 2021 at 10:45 A.M. at Marion General Hospital.
She was born In Hartford City, on June 16, 1933 to the late Sherles and Gladys L. (Flatter) Lawrence.
Marjorie retired from Owens-Illinois Glass factory in Gas City. She previously Manage hotels in both Gainesville, Florida and Nashville, Tennessee. She also was the owner and operator of The Beef Station in Marion, IN. She was a member of the New Life Fellowship Church in Gas City. In her spare time she was an avid card player and loved to play all kinds of games. She also enjoyed playing the harmonica and crocheting.
She will be sadly missed by her Daughters; Susie Swafford of Gas City, Mildred "Midge" (Husband, Merrill) Sands of Marion, Linda ( Husband, Kermit) Pyles of Gas City and Marcia (Husband, Joe) Davis of Lubbock, TX, 8 Grandchildren; Capri (Husband, Shane) Dakin, Ryan J. (Wife, Heather) Sands, Chris M. ( Wife, Jennifer) Sands, Jeff A. (Companion, Brooke Smith) Sands, Leah J. (Husband, Nathan) Gray, Steven W. (Wife, Kim) Taylor, Jordan B. (Wife, Brandy) Wimmer, John F. Carpenter; 20 Great Grandchildren; 4 Great Great Grandchildren and a Sister, Jane (Husband, Jim) Baker of Coco Beach FL as well as several Nieces and Nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Brothers; Bob Lawerence and Gerald Lawerence; Half Brother, Dale Foy and a Sister, June Lawrence.
Services for Marjorie will be Friday, September 17, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High Street in Hartford City, IN with Pastor Paul McPhearson officiating. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday September 17, 2021 from 11-1 at Keplinger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to The American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Marrifield, VA 22116 -7023
