Sheryl Smith, 72, of Goodspring, TN, passed away on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 18th, 2021, from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be Saturday, September 18th, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Waylon Hill officiating.

Burial will be at Ford's Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband Leonard Smith; son Michael Leonard (Amanda); daughter Keri Anne; grandchildren Charles Trippley and Loretta Sunshine; sister Marcelle Shumate of Lynnville, TN; brother Scott Blankenship of Fayetteville, TN; nieces Wendy Parker and Lorrie Blankenship; nephew Danny Lee Shumate; and a host of wonderful friends.

Preceded in death by her parents Charles Euwin Blankenship and Loretta Norton Blankenship; and son Charles Leonard.

Sheryl attended Harvest Jr. High School in Harvest, Alabama. There she was a cheerleader in the 7th grade. She attended Sparkman High School in Toney, Alabama and graduated in 1967. She and her family moved from Harvest to Huntsville in 1969 where she attended business college and worked at J.C. Penny's and First Alabama Bank. She met Leonard Smith, and they were married August 19th, 1978. They were blessed with their three beautiful children and two wonderful grandchildren. She and her family lived in Lexington, Alabama for twenty years, moving there from Minor Hill, Tennessee, in 1991. Her life goal was to be a caring, loving mother, and she hoped she accomplished that.

She worked for several years helping Leonard run a family dairy and hog farm and left that in 1997 when Leonard decided to sell out. Her son Charles helped her acquire a job at the local video/pizza shop in Lexington. She loved her work but moved on to work for Lexington Fabrics. She was fortunate enough to be allowed to attend NWSCC where she worked and earned a degree in applied science in office administration.

She loved raising her children and working on her Blankenship family ties through Ancestry.com and Legacy, which was very rewarding. She worked for a short time at a plant in Greenhill and later obtained a job at Centive International Floors in Florence. She worked hard and made several wonderful friends while there. She retired in 2011 to be closer to her grandson Tripp after the passing of her wonderful son Charlie in 2010. She had the pleasure also of assisting her daughter in raising her beautiful, energetic granddaughter.

Now having left this life, she joins her parents and son in heaven to await the day when all her family can come together again.
