Albert Byron Bentley, April 11, 1936-July 19, 2021
Innovator and Businessman

On July 19, 2021, Albert was called home to join his Heavenly Father at the age of 85.

On April 11, 1936 beautiful twin boys were born. Albert was the first born, identical twin, to be welcomed by Clarence & Gladys Bentley in Walnut Park, CA. Times were tough as the depression lingered on and took a toll on family's, including the Bentley family, and from the 1942-47 Albert, his twin Johnny and their younger brother Doug, spent 5 years at McKinley Home for Boys, in Van Nuys Ca, due to their parents tumultuous divorce. At 13 years old Albert and his brothers returned to their father and his new wife, their incredible loving and caring stepmother, Kathryn. He attended Downey High School and at only 17 years old Albert knew he wanted to serve his country and joined in the United States Army, where he finished his high school equivalency while enlisted. He proudly and bravely served his country for 5 years. His service included active duty overseas in several European countries and in Korea during the Korean Conflict. After fulfilling his first voluntary 2 year term Albert re-enlisted to extend his time so that he could serve along with his brothers (Delbert) Johnny and Doug who had also volunteered their service, following in Albert's footsteps. He may have only served in the military for 5 years, but Albert spent his lifetime loving and serving, with adoration and respect, his family, his Lord and his country. As a proud patriot, he taught his children and grandchildren to respect their country, honor the flag of the United States of America and what it represented, to be grateful for their freedoms, to understand the cost of the freedom they enjoyed and to never ever take any of these things for granted. God, family and country were the three most important things to Albert.

When he returned home from his military service, at 22, Albert worked tirelessly to help his father build Bentley Manufacturing Incorporated, a gasket, seal and washer manufacturing business. He met and fell in love with Barbara and they married in 1960 and they remained happily married for 61 years. "Don't let the sun set on an argument" and "keeping God in the center" were the motto and foundation that they built their marriage on. Albert and Barbara raised three children in Downey Ca until relocating their family, in 1974, to Visalia to slow down their pace, have more time to enjoy their family and to also be closer to Barbara's ailing mother. While there, they began to build their own successful manufacturing business; Security Gasket. Albert and Barbara made a great team raising their family, running the business together and investing in real estate. Albert worked and remained active and productive until a few months before his passing.

Al was a man of few words, but when he spoke people listened. The stories he shared about his past experiences were always filled with excitement, adventure, usually some danger and always some funny details. The jokes and the past pranks that he and his twin brother would tell about would keep those around them in laughter. Talk about laughter, Albert had a sharp wit, a dry sense of humor with perfect timing and an unforgettable laugh; his laughter was infectious! He always knew exactly what to say to put a smile on your face or to make you chuckle and bring joy to life's most trying moments. He touched so many lives with acts of kindness and generosity and he will be greatly missed by many! Albert loved birds and animals, old cars & antiques and collectible items, outer space and aliens & sci-fi, watching the news & reading books, precision tooling, building and creating things, the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and family time. He worked hard and was an amazing protector and provider for his family.

Albert is survived by the love of his life, soul mate and best friend, Barbara Bentley and his daughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Delbert John Bentley (42), his younger brothers Douglas Bentley (42) and David Bentley (43); his son, Byron Bentley (42) and his daughter, Dana Bentley (14). His granddaughter, Mikayla Bentley (32), passed on July 17, 2021 only two day prior to his passing.
