He applied for veterans benefits on August 12, 1891, and was buried at Chico Cemetery, per CCA records, on September 26, 1916.
Otis Rice, aged 64, born Massachusetts, occupation retired, joined the Major General Henry W. Halleck Post No. 19, GAR, of Chico in 1901. He died on September 24, 1916.
