Chico Record, Friday Morning, October 27, 1911, pg 5 col 1: Civil War Veteran Dies After Long Illness. James Franklin Stacey died at 5 o’clock yesterday morning at the home of his son, Thomas Stacey, on Irvin street in Chapmantown. He was 79 years old and had been ill for some time.

Stacey came to California from the middle west eight years ago and was a farmer by occupation. He leaves eight sons. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Engel undertaking parlors on Broadway, conducted by Rev. C.E. Winning, pastor of the Methodist Church, and will be under the direction of Halleck Post, G.A.R., of which the deceased was a member. Burial will be in Chico Cemetery.
