Gary Vernon Chambers, 76, of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior September 13, 2021 after a long illness. He was the son of the late Albert Chambers and Helen Tedrow Chambers Bungard. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Franklin Chambers, brother David Chambers of Deluth, GA, sons Jason Chambers (Barbara) of Springfield, Ohio, Nathan Chambers, Moundsville, WV, and daughter Kara Hall (Benny) of New Martinsville, West Virginia, along with 3 grandchildren and a niece. Baptized at 12 years old, Gary was a member of the Brethren Church, and Praise Fellowship in Glendale, WV where he played trumpet in their Praise & Worship band for five years. He most recently was a member of Fisherman's Net Ministries, Point Pleasant, WV where he led a men's study group. Gary was an ordained minister through Kingsway Fellowship, Des Moines, IA.

Gary was active in the Civil Air Patrol. Every night he would sign in for West Virginia call sign, lowland 327 radio call. Gary also built ham radios from kits with his dad. He graduated Cameron High School in the top 10 0f his class and winning 1st place in a Science Fair at Cameron High School by building a Tesla coil, which made all of the local newspapers.

Gary attended West Liberty College majoring in music education with a minor in trumpet. He finished his studies in 3 ½ semesters. Gary served as a band director in West Virginia for approximately seven years, teaching in Davis, Parsons and Grafton, West Virginia. While in Davis he also served as choir director of the Davis United Methodist Church.

Gary took extra college courses at WVU to become a special education (behavioral disorder) teacher. He taught special education for over 20 years at Wetzel County, WV , touching many lives. He was also a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in Marion IN.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV with Pastor Annetta Durst and DE "Jake" McCartney. Visitation will be two hours prior to service. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Flatrock, WV. Social Distancing and Facemask are recommended for everyone's safety.
