Doug Barrett 1961- 2021 Gastonia – James Douglas "Doug" Barrett, 60, passed away on September 18, 2021 at CaroMont regional Medical Center. He was a native of Gaston County, born on July 4, 1961 to the late John Homer Barrett, Sr. and Iva Lee "Mouse" Cole Barrett. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Eugene Barrett. Doug worked as a Foreman with Charlotte Paint Company for over 40 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing the guitar. Doug was witty, funny and had lots of friends. He was an excellent cook and loved to grill out. But most of all he loved being "Pop Pop" to Kennedy Left to cherish his memories is his daughter, Brittany and husband John Kelly Welch, II and their daughter, Kennedy; brother, Johnny and wife Nancy Barrett and a niece, Kim Gordy; the mother of his daughter, Theresa Barrett; and many cousins A Celebration of Life service will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22nd at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Terry Gregoire officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service Interment will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Long Creek Cemetery Pallbearers will be John Kelly Welch, II, Carl Lattimore Ormand, Dana Turner, Shawn McCall Richard Dean Culbertson, and Chris Shope Honorary pallbearer will be his brother Johnny Barrett and Eric Berryhill
