Rev. Charles Powell Berryman was born in Newton, near the Isle of Ely, in Cambridgeshire on the 27th of January 1854 the son of the Rev James Wise Berryman and his wife Ann (nee Rolleston). At the time of his birth his father was a Curate at Newton.

When Charles was seven his father was Vicar at Emneth in Norfolk and ten years later he was Rector of the Parish of Tydd St Giles in Cambridgeshire. Charles was still a student in 1871

He married Gertrude Felicia Palmer on the 26th of July 1879. When they married her Charles was Rector of the Parish of Pitney in Somerset.

In 1881 they were living at The Rectory with their eldest son Richard.

In 1891 they were at Freefolk Manor near Laverstoke in Hampshire.

In 1896 Charles was appointed Vicar at Camberley. They moved to The Vicarage attached to St Michael's Church in London Road.

Charles died on the 2nd of April 1901 and was buried at St Michael's on the 6th of April 1901.
