Alice Faye Teague Johnson, 83, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021.

Born in Milledgeville, to Colonel J.D and Lola Teague, Faye grew up on Clark Street, across from Georgia College, and attended elementary and high school at the Peabody laboratory school on the campus. She graduated from Georgia College (GSCW) and earned her Masters degree at Mercer. She taught first grade in the Bibb County school system at Hartley, Springdale and Alexander II elementary schools.

She attended Vineville Baptist Church, where she won a "Mother of the Year" award, and Mount Zion Baptist Church.

After retiring, she worked in the Vineville Baptist Church Preschool, volunteered many hours in the church library, told stories to the Higher Life group, and worked as a "pink lady" at the Medical Center. She was passionate about reading books and telling stories, especially to children.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Pat (Ann) Teague.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wardlow "Gus" Johnson; her four deeply grateful daughters Jackie (Jeff) Hodges of Marietta; Cindy (Mike) Homan of Leicester, NC; Lori Johnson of Macon; Julie (Michael) Pharr of Jackson; eight beloved grandchildren Hannah (Nick) Hussain; Ben Homan; Heidi (Jarrod) Norrell; Beka Homan; Jenna (Justin) Grothaus; David Pharr; Kate Hodges; Lauren Pharr; and six beautiful great grandchildren Leah, Abby and Lucy Hussain; Ella and Brooks Grothaus; Isaiah Norrell; and her sisters Mary (Cliff) Royal and Hannah (Carwell) Thompson.

A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery at 11 o'clock on Thursday, September 23rd. She requested that people with a favorite children's book share about it.
In lieu of flowers she asked that people share a book with a child in her memory.
