Irene B. Kegelman, of Danbury, CT died peacefully on Sunday September 12, 2021, at Candlewood Valley nursing home. She was 95 years old.
Born on December 25, 1925, in Brewster, NY daughter of the late Arthur Barrett and Mary Gallagher. Irene attended Packard Business School in NYC and continued her education at Good Counsel College, White Plains, NY receiving her master's degree.
On December 26, 1948, she married the love of her life Edward J. Kegelman. Edward predeceased his wife.
Irene was an elementary School teacher with Brewster Central School District, following many years of teacher she became a substitute teacher before officially retiring. Irene had a great passion for reading, her passion for reading expanded to volunteering with reading and literacy programs. She also enjoyed volunteering for habitat for humanity. Irene was a member of the Danbury Women's Center and the Women's resource Center in Mahopac.
Irene is survived by her children; Mary Alice Wells, Anne Kegelman and Edward G. Kegelman, her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on September 24, 2021, at St. Lawrence O' Toole Cemetery, Turk Hill Road, Brewster. Interment of her ashes will follow.
