Marie Henriette (Gagnon) Derosier was born in Kingsey, Quebec, Canada, daughter of Pierre and Marie Olive (Poulet) Gagnon. She immigrated to the United States in the early 1860s, settling in Northborough, MA. It is highly likely that she immigrated with her parents and siblings (brother Charles Adolphus and sister Marie Louisa), but no record of her parents has been located in the US. Once the family arrived in Massachusetts, they anglicized their names and Henriette became known as Harriet Goddard.

Harriet married Arthur Derosier (Hercule DesRosiers), a native of Lanoraie, Quebec at St Luke the Evangelist in Westborough, MA on the 20th of February 1871. They made their home in Northborough with the exception of 5 years spent in the Baltic and Colcester, CT area where 3 of their children were born.

At the time of her death Harriet was a parishioner of Saint Mary in Marlborough, MA where her death from consumption was recorded. She was survived by her husband Arthur and their 8 children (Josephine b.1872, Arthur b.1873, Eliza b.1877, George b.1879, Amede b.1881, Delvina b.1883, Hattie b.1887). Also surviving her was her brother Adolphus Goddard of Hudson, MA. Her sister Marie Louise (Adeline Boudreau) had predeceased her in 1882. Adeline's death was from consumption as well. Adeline is buried in Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson (Find A Grave Memorial #215133631). Adolphus died on December 30, 1920 and is buried in Saint Michael Cemetery although his grave is yet to be located.
