Albertine "Rades" Buchholz
Death claimed Mrs. Joseph Buchholz on Monday evening, at Milwaukee, where she was visiting her daughters.
Albertina Rades was born March 14, 1862 in Germany, and came to America with her parents in 1867, who settled on a farm in the town of Schleswig.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Buchholz on March 16, 1880, and during the same year they bought 40 acres of land from his father-in-law in the town of Schleswig, one mile north of Kiel. A few years later they purchased 40 acres of land from their brother-in-law adjoining Mr. Buchholz' farm, making 80 acres in all, which they both worked faithfully for 37 years. The homestead was then sold to their son William, who still resides on the farm. They then lived one half mile from Kiel up to the time of the death of Mr. Buchholz several months ago. Since then she has been visiting her children. Last week she left for Milwaukee to visit her daughters, where she became ill with dropsy and heart failure, in which death claimed her Monday.
She reached the age of 65 years, and leaves to mourn 8 children, and 19 grandchildren. The children are as follows: Mrs. Herman Gast and Mrs. Hy. Kattreh of Milwaukee, Mrs. Wm. Petzold and Mrs. Norb Reichardt of Schleswig, Mrs. John Kuhn of Ada, Carl Buchholz of New Holstein, William on the homestead and Herman of Schleswig; one brother, Frank Rades of Meeme; and one sister, Mrs. Hy. Peters of Black Creek.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at one o'clock from the old homestead to the church. Burial will be made in the Rockville cemetery, the Rev. Ott Saewert officiating. - March 24, 1927
