Jerry J. Hatcher died Dec 2, 2007 at McPherson Care Center. He was born Jan 10, 1912, in Minneola, the son of Oden D. Hatcher and Ruth L. Bridge. In 1930 he graduated from Florence High School. A resident of McPherson since 1965, formerly of Great Bend, he was a retired carpenter and handyman. He also worked for the city of McPherson, at the Sewage Treatment Plant, retiring in 1977.
He belonged to First Christian Church and VFW Post No. 2715. He served in the U.S. Navy (Seabees) during World War II, stationed in the Solomon Islands.
On Aug 22, 1936, he married Dorothy Mae Griffith in Russell. She died Aug 22, 1965. On Dec 18, 1966, he married Leona Darlene Rahm Brown. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Carol Powell, Altoona; a brother, John Hatcher, Ellinwood; three stepsons, DeWayne Brown, Vici, Okla., John Brown, Woodward, Okla., and Ronald Brown, Minn. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Holland, Chester, Ernie, Edgar and Floyd; two sisters, Mary Pinon and Ruby Beyer; an infant daughter and son; a
stepson, Harry Don Brown; eight step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at First Christian Church, McPherson, with the Rev. John Gran presiding. Interment in Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood.
