Lela Ruth Hatter, age 85, of Sweetwater passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.

Lela was born March 7, 1936 at Roby, Texas to the late Harold H. and Julia R. (Dunn) Headstream. Lela married Marvin Don Hatter 65 years ago.

She lived in Nolan and Fisher Counties all her life, was a graduate of Newman High School in Sweetwater and had worked for Bennett and Baucum and Bennett and Associates as a secretary for 20+ years. She was a member of Highland Heights United Methodist Church and was a very active member.

Lela is survived by her husband, Don of Sweetwater; sons, Marvin Hatter and wife Jana of Boerne, and Lynn Hatter and wife Janice of Lewisville; her sister, Jenene Taylor and husband Doug of Sweetwater; her brother, Jimmy Headstream and wife Laura of Sweetwater; and 2 grandsons, Josh and Jordan Hatter, both of Lewisville, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 2, 2021 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Larry Holder officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

A family and friend's visitation will be Friday from 6-7 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Turner, Jimmy Davis, Terry Bennett, David Bennett, Bob Hefner and Donnie Baker.

The family requests masks be worn (for those who can) at the visitation and funeral services.
