Santa Cruz Evening News, Aug. 25, 1919. "Dan J. Lyons, well known California hotel man, a former chief clerk of the St. George hotel in this city [Santa Cruz], arrived in Honolulu Friday on the Korea Maru, says the Honolulu Star Bulletin of August 11. Mr. Lyons spent his boyhood days in Honolulu with the late George H. Fassett, who at one time was the manager of the Royal Hawaiian hotel. He has been connected with the famous old Baldwin hotel and with the Palace in San Francisco, and for many years was manager at the St. James Hotel, San Jose, when that hostelry was owned by the Campbell estate of Honolulu."
Mendocino Coast Beacon, Sept. 9, 1944. "In Sacramento, August 11, 1944, death claimed Daniel J. Lyons, beloved husband of Ethel E. Lyons of Sacramento, loving father of Dr. Lionel H. Lyons of San Francisco and Helen Cruikshanks of Fort Bragg, grandfather of Randall Lee Cruikshanks and Colin Hillery Cruikshanks of Fort Bragg. He was a native of San Francisco."
