Robert E. Ailes went to be with the Lord and the love of his life Audrey on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, in his home surrounded by his family.

Robert was born Aug. 23, 1938 to Oliver and Alice (Shodloski) Ailes in Marion. He attended and played basketball at Fairmount High School.

On Nov. 10, 1961 he married Audrey Booth who preceded him in death just 13 days prior on Sept. 13, 2021. Robert was employed with Hartson-Kennedy until he retired in 1990. After retiring, he went on to have a very successful career driving semi's for Roadway Express where in 2010 he was given an award for 2 million safe miles. He went on to drive for Jet Star until he fully retired in 2016. Robert enjoyed fishing, working outdoors, collecting guns and knives and spending time with his family.

Robert is survived his children, Chris (Christine) Ailes, Toby (April) Ailes, Teresa (Ailes) Zoda, and Curtis (Lora) Ailes; brothers, George (Linda Kay) Ailes and Hartin "Skeeter" Ailes; 14 grandchildren, 14 and soon to be 15 great-grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

The funeral service was held on Oct. 2, 2021 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Gas City Chapel, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana., with Rev. Mark Atkinson officiating.
