William Clark, Dies At Age 77

ST. ANTHONY - William Edward Clark, 77, lifelong resident in the St. Anthony area died Monday evening at the family home of a heart attack.

He was born Aug. 5, 1894 at Wilford, the son of John P and Fannie Bowles Clark. He attended school at Wilford and during his early life he was an active sportsman and boxer. He help construct the bridge east of St. Anthony and was the first person to cross the bridge upon its completion. He was an avid lover of horses and raised some teams in the Upper Snake River Valley. He married Lula Brown on Aug. 4, 1919 at Logan, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.

Mr. Clark dry farmed in the Hog Hollow area until his retirement and then he worked for the forest service for three years. He was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include his wife of St. Anthony; children, Billy Clark and Terry Clark both of Idaho Falls, Burke Clark and Mrs. Blaine (Bonnie) Hawkes both of St. Anthony, Mrs. Helen Kion of Pocatello and Mrs. Morris (Betty) Wadded of Rexburg. Brothers and sisters, Clarence Clark of El Monte, Calif., Frank Clark of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Bessie Garver of Ogden, Utah, 33 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Bishop Grant Chandler of the 2nd Ward officiating. Friends may call at the Hansen Funeral Chapel Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and at the chapel Wednesday from noon until time of services. Interment will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Hansen Memorial Funeral Home of St. Anthony.
