Gertrude Frances "Grandma Gertie" Guerrettaz, 86, of Newton, died at 6:32 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2007, at Burgin Manor in Olney.

Ms. Guerrettaz was born August 27, 1921, in Newton, the daughter of Harry and Theresa (Schuch) Dhom.

She retired from E.R. Moore Co. in 1982 after 26 years of service. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling with her sisters, Joan and Kate, and spending time with her family and friends.

Ms. Guerrettaz is survived by her daughter, Janet Brooks and her husband, Maurice; grandchildren, Patti Ochs and her husband, Ronald, Tony Brooks and his wife, Geri, and Julie Bierman; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Hermann and her husband, Jason, Ryan Ochs, Marcus Brooks and his wife, Buffy, and Kelsey Brooks; brothers, Bill Dhom and his wife, Ann, and James Dhom and his wife, Geneva; and sister, Kate Bergbower.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bob and Vic Dhom; and sisters, Marie Dhom and Joan Beverlin.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. today at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton.

A funeral mass was at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton with Father Al Kemme officiating.

Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery in Newton.

In loving memory of Ms. Guerrettaz, memorials may be made to the St. Thomas Catholic Church Building Fund.
