Adella was the only daughter of LDS Apostle Orson Hyde, 6253627 and his wife, Martha Rebecca Browett, 33988307, who was Endowed 17 December 1845 and sealed to him 11 January 1846.

After Apostle Hyde returned from his 1849 Mission in England, they prepared to migrate to the Great Salt Lake Valley.

Their child, Adella was born in April of 1850. She lived only three months and, days after her death, Hyde was called to Salt Lake City with a group of three other church officials.

Martha was downcast, realizing that Orson's duties demanded almost more energy than he possessed. As her health declined after the baby's death, they both decided to be released from their marriage vows. When his decision was made to leave her with her sisters-in-law at Winter Quarters, Martha obtained an annulment of the marriage.
