Shirley Springer-----74, Carpio, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in a Minot hospital.
Shirley Louise Ondricek was born on March 5, 1947, a daughter of Dennis and Elsie (Anderson) Ondricek in Hoven, SD. She was raised and educated in South Dakota, graduated from Doland High School in 1965. She furthered her education by attending college and earning a Lab Tech certificate. She then worked for Rice Memorial Hospital in Wilmar, MN.
On October 3, 1970, Shirley was united in marriage to Gary Springer in South Shore, SD. They made their home in various location as Gary worked in the Grain Elevator Business including Florence, SD, Oldham, SD, Gettysburg, SD, and in 1977, moving to Carpio, ND, where they raised their two sons Daniel and Josh.
Shirley had a love for working with numbers, and in 2001 earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, which lead her to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She went on to do bookwork for Aasen Landscaping, H & R Block and worked privately for various individuals at tax time.
She was a very active member of the Carpio Lutheran Church, where she served as the treasurer for the church and also served with the CLCW. Shirley loved spending time outdoors working in her garden and yard, going for walks, traveling and was an excellent cook. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by: Husband of 51 years, Gary;Two sons: Daniel (Stephanie Wilz) Springer and Josh (Penny Retzlaff) Springer;One brother: Quentin (Kathy) Ondricek;Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts and uncles.
