Robert Foster Thrasher, Jr., age 95, of Dixon, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021, at Serenity Hospice and Home, in Oregon.
Robert was born May 1, 1926, in Sublette, the son of Robert, Sr. and Inez (Allen) Thrasher.
He was raised in Harmon and later moved to Dixon. He served in the US Air Force and later married Eleanor Schafer on December 5, 1946, in Ashton. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2019. Robert was employed at Commonwealth Edison Company as a mechanic and later became the supervisor of the garage. He retired after 36 ½ years and continued to work out of his own garage for friends and family. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Dixon.
He is survived by his daughter, Nadine (Jim) Wickert; his son, Roger (Bekki) Thrasher; one sister, Lois Burgess; one brother-in-law, Melvin (Betty) Schafer; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, several sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, in Dixon with the funeral following at 11:00 AM. Burial with military honors will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, in Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Serenity Hospice and Home.
