Carolyn was born on May 25, 1938 on the family farm on Hillside Rd. In Forest Grove. She was the youngest of three children born to Frances and Lena (Crop) Herb. She was raised and received her education at Hillside School, which had taught grades one through eight in the same room. She later attended Forest Grove High School and was a graduate of the class of 1955. She attended one year at Oregon State College which is now OSU.

She was united in marriage to Walter Duyck on September 2, 1961 in Verboort, OR. Following their marriage they made their home in Beaverton until 1966 when they moved to their present farm in Cornelius.

Carolyn was first and foremost a homemaker; her family and Catholic faith were very important to her. Walter and her raised their five children on a farm in Cornelius. They raised blue berries and a variety of row crops.

As a child, Carolyn played piano, was always on honor role, and participated in 4H in canning and sewing, and was consistently an award winning seamstress. As an adult, Carolyn continued sewing and canning, often creating last minute dresses for her daughter's dances and sewing bridesmaid outfits. Carolyn was a tole painter and teacher, and a member of the "Cinnamon Tree" craft club. She was a CCD coordinator. She enjoyed camping and playing cards with her husband and friends, and was an avid Blazers fan. She worked hard on the family Blueberry farm, making sure the neighborhood kids and cousins picked their rows cleanly and didn't give up before quitting time.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Duyck if the Family home, five children and their spouses; Cheryl and Shawn Morgan of Hillsboro, OR., Scott and Susan Duyck of Beaverton, OR., Lisa and Chris Davis of Portland, OR, Craig and Genelle Duyck of Verboort, OR, Tim and Christine Duyck of Verboort, OR., two siblings and their spouses; Bob and Kay Herb of Aloha, OR., Gene and Lana Herb of Hillsboro, OR., seven grandchildren; Monica, Brett, Dylan, Maddie, Joshua, Lauren and Lena.
