Funeral services for S.W. Perdue, 79, prominent Mercer County farmer and life-time resident who died at 10 o'clock yesterday morning, January 15, 1942 at his home in Brushfork, of complications, will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at Brushfork Methodist Church. His pastor, the Rev. J.W. Staley of Montcalm will officiate, assisted by the deceased's former pastor, the Rev. C.F. Lundy, of Tazewell.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be" Bill Williams, Jim Tabor, G.W. Francisco, Bob Hill, C.R. Harry, J.L. Hicks, W.R. Hatcher, Guy Michael.
Flowerbearers will be granddaughters of the deceased.
Mr. Perdue was born February 14, 1862 near Coaldale. He was a son of James Henry Perdue and Sarah Elizabeth Perdue Perdue.
He was married Oct. 24, 1883 to Miss Mary Jane Hill.
Surviving are his wife and the following children: Mrs. T.M. Goforth, Mrs. D.A. Jackson, Mrs. Wallace Russell, Zollie G. Perdue, William H. Perdue, Charles S. Perdue, Mrs. Weaver Hager, all of Brushfork, Walter C. Perdue of Littlesburg, Mrs. Louis Hambrick of New Midway, Mrs Wallace Hager of Bluefield, Va., two brothers, George H. Perdue of Coaldale and Bailey B. Perdue of Brushfork, three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Breedlove, Norfolk' Mrs. Elbert Tabor, Bluefield, Va. and Mrs. F.H. Hale, Brushfork.
