Scott, Andrea 1/25/1948 - 5/9/2021 Ann Arbor, Michigan

Andrea Scott of Ann Arbor died May 9, 2021 at age 73. The cause was breast cancer.

Scott, the daughter of John and Maretha Larsen, was born in Grand Rapids, and then moved to Ypsilanti where she was the Valedictorian at Ypsilanti High School. She then attended the University of Michigan where she received a BA and MA in English.

In 1971 she married Dr. David Scott and moved to Minneapolis.

There she worked for the University of Minnesota, serving for many years as the Director of Admissions at the Graduate School where she introduced such innovations as computerized admissions. She was active on campus where she served on the Board of the University Art Museum and was instrumental in the building of the Weisman Museum of Art. Scott was active in the Minneapolis community, having served as President of the American Association of University Women, and Board President for Big Brothers and Big Sisters as well as Amicus, a prison advocacy group.

In 2008, she retired from the University and moved to Ann Arbor. She continued to work, representing the International English Language Testing System of Cambridge, UK. She gave generously of her time and energy to the University of Michigan where she served as chair of the advisory boards for the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History as well as the Prison Creative Arts Project. Andrea, always a Wolverine at heart, for sixty years watched or listened to every Michigan football game. She loved live music and theatre which she often attended with friends. She loved to travel and kept in close touch with friends throughout the country and the world.

Andrea is survived by her husband David, a physician at the Ann Arbor VA, and her brother Craig Larsen of Bath Michigan.
