Nelda Ashley, age 84, of West, passed away late Monday night, October 4, 2021, at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Pastor Lilly Leman officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery in West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Limited capacity, facial masks, and social distancing are encouraged at all services.

Nelda was born April 8, 1937, in Lockhart, the daughter of Robert and Icie (Browning) Densman. She attended Lockhart schools.

On June 20, 1959, she was united in marriage to Allen Ashley in West. Allen preceded her in death on July 15, 1996.

Nelda was a very dedicated member of First United Church in West, where she was involved in many capacities. She worked for Marathon Batteries in Waco for over 20 years.

Nelda enjoyed playing bingo, gambling, building puzzles, watching Texas Rangers baseball games, and traveling to Las Vegas. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nelda is also preceded in death by her parents and thirteen siblings.

Survivors include her children, Tim Ashley and wife Shelley of Lorena, Beverly Denton and husband Mark of West, Mike Ashley and wife Jennifer of West, and Donna Uptmore and husband Jimmy of West; sisters, Carolyn Bartley, Kathy Bartley, and Brenda Bennett; grandchildren, Jarred, Gage, Dana, Matthew and wife Emily, Deseray, Jacob, Tyler, Breanna, Boedy, Gracie, Jessica and husband Skylar, Jimmy Jr., and Justin; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Lloyd Ashley; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers are her grandsons.
