Visitation for Elden J. Richards, 68, will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Richards, who was born in Sacred Heart, Minnesota, died Monday.

He was a 52-year Spokane resident.

From 1952 to 1955 he served in the Navy aboard the USS Suisun and the USS Wright.

Mr. Richards worked as a carbon bake operator at Kaiser Aluminum Mead plant for 44 years. He retired in 1995.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Marjorie; a son, Ken Richards of Portland; two daughters, Karen Thompson of Spokane and Patricia Howe of Everett; two sisters, Iva DeGroot and Zella Skarr; a brother, Wendell Richards; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
