Colonel Allen Carr, 72, of Gray, GA, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 8, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gray with the Reverends Randy Darnell and John Haney. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service. A private burial will be held at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E. Ohio St., Ste 500, Chicago, IL 60611.

Son of the late Welborn Sterling and Elizabeth Jackson Carr, Allen retired from the United States Army after 32 years of service.

He was a member of the Veteran's Committee in Gray and a member of First Baptist Church of Gray. He enjoyed woodworking.

Allen is survived by his wife, Ann Harris Carr of Gray; children, Kim Hodges (Jim), Michael Carr (Joy), and Glenn Carr (Katie); grandchildren, Trent Mosely (Rachelle) Taylor Crosby (Justin), Brentley, Tucker, and Charlie Hodges, Wade (MaKayla) Carr, Kendall, Carley Glenn, Jack, and Evan; brother, Gene Carr; sister, Janie Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
