Mr. Donovan graduated from the Coast Guard Academy and earned his masters degree from Rutgers University. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard and was a Purple Heart recipient.
He was employed as a supervisor and engineer for National Starch & Chemical, Indianapolis.
He enjoyed horse racing.
Mr. Donovan was preceded in death by his wife, Claire (Dvorschak) Donovan who died in 1978 and two brothers, Jerry Donovan and Bill Donovan.
Survivors include his son, Pat Donovan of Mooresville; daughter, Mary T. Campbell (Joseph) of Paragon; six grandchildren; one great grandchild.
