Milon "Mike" Ralph Mattson, 59, died Sept. 12, 2004 at his home in Laurel.

Mike was born Nov. 25, 1944 in Ogden, Utah. He retired from the Navy after 25 years of service, and worked for the U.S. Postal Service in College Park for the last 12 years. He lived in Glen Burnie before moving to Laurel 12 years ago. He was a member of American Legion Post 60.

Mike was a 1963 graduate of Ogden High School. From 1964-1966 Mike served in Brazil as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was in attendance at the organizational meeting for the first LDS stake in all of South America, held in in April 1966 in São Paulo, Brazil. His final missionary assignment was in the São Paulo 6th ward (ala) located in the Perdizes district of São Paulo.

Mike was preceded in death by a brother, Don Mattson, and sister, Lora Leigh Bradshaw.

Surviving are his daughter, Paula Mattson; sons Michael Mattson and Lee Mattson; sisters Jean Toutai and Sharon Lillge; brother David Mattson; and grandchildren Zacchary, Brooke, Brandon and Abby.
