Thomas J Faherty, son of Thomas and Bridget Faherty, was a native of Ireland. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager. Thomas married Alice C Cammer on 5 Oct 1880 in Winchester, Virginia. The couple settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and were the parents of seven children, four of whom survived to adulthood. Thomas worked as a bricklayer. However, before the 1920 census enumeration, he moved to the Little Sisters of the Poor home for the aged in Philadelphia. His wife and two of his daughters moved from Westminster Avenue to Walnut Street. Shortly after that 1920 census, Thomas was widowed. He died the following year at the age of 67 and was interred in Saint Denis Cemetery on 24 May 1921. However, his wife and three of his daughters were buried in Winchester, Virginia; his three infant sons were interred in New Cathedral Cemetery in Philadelphia. A fourth son, his first child Leo, born in 1881, died as a young adult and was initially interred in Old Cathedral Cemetery, with his remains later transferred to Saint Denis Cemetery.
