Edith M. (Rice) Magyar, age 85, of East Haven, formerly of Stratford, died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the widow of George J. Magyar. Mrs. Magyar was born in Bridgeport and had been a Stratford resident for 55 years. She is survived by one son, George Magyar and Shauna Falis of Meriden; two daughters, Karen Moran and her husband, Robert, of West Haven and Maureen Magyar-Tomei of Naugatuck; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, David and Daniel Moran, Jason and Keith Tomei, Shane Rosenberry and Chloe Falis; one sister, Eileen Brown of Trumbull, formerly of Stratford; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Magyar; one brother, John Rice; and four sisters, Rosemary Klem, Florence Gerard, Dorothy Schmidt and Eleanor MacWilliams. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 9:30 am in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main St., Stratford and at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make contributions in her memory to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
