PRINCETON-Bernard Lawrence McBride, 68, of Route 1, Box 581, (maple Acres) Princeton died Wednesday, February 3, 1993 at a Bluefield hospital.
Born April 5, 1924 in Coopers, he was a son of the late Gordon Rufus and Maggie Mae Jackson McBride. He was of the Methodist faith and was an engineer for the Norfolk Southern Railroad for over 35 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, a member of the Bluefield-Mercer Lodge 85 A.F. & A.M., was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, Beni Kedem Shrine Temple of Charleston, Bluefield Shrine Club, Princeton Elks 1459 and the Riley Vest Post 9 American Legion. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Cecil McBride.
Survivors: wife Helen Scrotsky McBride: sons, Bernard L. McBride, Jr. of Lexington, Ky., and Alan Wayne McBride of Richmond, Va.; brother, Gerald McBride of Bluefield; grandchildren, Karen Beth McBride and Christopher McBride.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mercer Funeral home Chapel in Bluefield with Father Ron Getsinger and Father Patsy Iaquinta officiating.
Burial will be at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.
Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Bluefield-Mercer Lodge 85 A.F. & A.M.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
