CLIFTON, N.J. - Janet Lee Gomez-Yanis, 66, of Clifton, died on Monday, April 26, 2004 at her home.
Born in Bramwell, she lived in Verona, N.J. before moving to Clifton 13 years ago.
She was a school nurse in Verona and a health educator for the Verona Board of Health for 20 years, retiring in 2001 from the H.B. Whitehome Middle School. She was a 1960 graduate of Berea College with a BS degree in nursing. She was a member of the National and New Jersey School Nurses' Association, and served as president of the Essex County Nurses Association from 1980-1994. She was one of the first female deacons ordained by the Montclair Heights Reformed Church, where she served. She was a member of the Square Dance Association in Clifton.
Surviving are her husband, Conrad; daughters, Consuelo Brennan and Christine Waguespack; a son, Gerardo Gomez; her parents, Robert and Jessie Eller; brothers, Michael and Wesley Eller; a sister, Beverly Aker; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at noon at the Bramwell Wesleyan Church in Bramwell with the Rev. Wesley Childs officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Garden in Princeton.
