BLUEFIELD — Roy Patton "Pat" Melvin, age 62, of Route 5 Box 643-A, Bluefield, WV, died on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at a Bluefield hospital.
Born on May 6, 1945 in Bluefield, he was a son of the late Roy Roosevelt Melvin and Elvie C. Neal Melvin Starling. He had been a resident of Bluefield for 30 years and was a mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lois G. Moore; and two grandchildren, Morgan Victoria Parks Ballengie and David Patton Zick.
Survivors include: Wife: Carolyn Denise Morgan Melvin of the home; Daughters: Charlotte Lynn Melvin of Chicago, Ill., Shannon Lee Zick of Bluefield, Caroline Marie Taylor of Bluefield; Grandchildren: DJ, Paul and Amber Melvin of Chicago, Ill., Samantha Aaron Kinney of Bluefield, Nathaniel Dwight Taylor and Jaret Isaac Taylor of Bluefield; three great-grandchildren, Brother: Hiram A. (Chippy) Melvin of Lakeland, Fla.; Sisters: Barbara Spicer of Bluefield, Teresa Tessa of Bluefield, Donna Chinault of Bluefield, Va., Tina Allman of North Carolina, Robin Burton of Bluefield, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Captain Jerry Lester and the Rev. Michael Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va., where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
