Alsie E. Rinehart Bennett Engle of Alton passed away at Regency Care in Springfield IL on October 7, 2021.

Alsie was born in Saluda County, SC on February 21, 1940 the daughter of Kenny L. and Mary Jessie Corley Rinehart.

Alsie was an administrative assistant for her working career and was a member of the Woman's auxiliary VFW and Moose Lodge. She was an avid bingo player and traveler, with her biggest joy coming from her love of her family and extended family. She will be sorely missed by everyone who has known her through the years.

Alsie was proceeded in death by her husband's David C. Bennett and Orville E. Engle. Her parents, grandson David W. Bennett, two brothers Kenneth Leon (Faye Morris) Rinehart and George Rinehart, brother-in-law Rayford Miller and stepson-in-law Bud Rands. Additionally, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She is survived by 3 children Robert D. (Brenda) Bennett of Fort Lawn, SC, Mark K. (Mary) Bennett of Springfield, IL, and Timothy J. (Kathy) Bennett of Arnold, MO, also 3 stepchildren of East Alton, Laura (Dean) Garrett, Georgia Rands and Jenny (Don) Hyman. A sister Kathryn R. Miller and sister in law Janet M. Rinehart of Batesburg SC. 8 grandchildren, John (Cassie) Virgin, Tony (Becky) Virgin, Andrew Bennett, Jacob Bennett, Patrick Bennett, Nicholas Bennett, Angel (Bennett) Mitchell and Matthew Bennett. Step grandchildren Melissa Romack, Gage Hyman and Kelly Hyman. 6 great-grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren. Many many extended family members and close friends.

There will be a visitation on Saturday October 16, 2021 starting at 11:00 a.m. with a short service at 12:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon in her honor at the Godfrey First United Methodist Church, 1100 Airport Road, Godfrey, IL 62035. Alsie will be inurned and placed at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St Louis MO next to her late husband David C. Bennett.
