Irene Katherine Arnett, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Springer) Rediger, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska, on August 19, 1913, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, on June 18, 1997, at the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 29 days.

She grew up and received her education in Hamilton County rural schools.

On October 14, 1932, she was united in marriage to Orville Arnett, in Belleville, Kansas. They made their home in Phillips, and she was employed at the Ordinance Plants in Grand Island and Hastings during World War Two. After the war they moved to a farm north of Hampton, and in 1958, they moved into Hampton, where she cooked for the Hampton Schools for 8 years. In 1971, they retired and moved to their present home in Aurora.

Irene was a member of the Aurora First Christian Church, and belonged to the Christian Womens Fellowship. She was also a member of the Extension Club and the TNT Neighborhood Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son Gale on March 24, 1956.j

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Orville of Aurora; 2 sons, Emmett and his wife Delores of Grand Island, and Roger and his wife Ione of Hampton; one daughter Joan Kissel and her husband Earl of Aurora; 2 brothers, Lester Rediger and his wife Wilma of Goodfield, Illinois, and Joe Rediger Jr., and his wife Glenda of Washington, Illinois, and 7 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Also, nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
